Mass. chief hurt, 2 firefighters treated for exhaustion

WESTPORT, Mass. — Fire Chief Brian Legendre was injured and two firefighters were felled by exhaustion Sunday while fighting a house fire at 149 Beeden Road, said department spokesman Lt. Michael P. Silvia.
Chief Legendre fell from a ladder and suffered a head laceration. He and the two firefighters were treated at the scene, Lt. Silvia said.
The two-story, wood-frame house caught fire from a fully engulfed truck, the first responding firefighters reported. The dwelling is owned by Arthur N. Berard, according to records in the Tax Assessors Office.
